Overview
Korakou is situated on the west bank of the Karkotis river, at an average altitude of 420 metres. On both sides of the Karkotis valley, the terrain rises steeply, providing protection for crops from the winds. To the west of the village, the terrain is mountainous and the altitude reaches 921 metres (Mosfileri peak). The landscape is dissected by small streams flowing down the valley. Perched atop a hill with a commanding view of the Korakou Sports Centre, lies the viewpoint "Moutti tou Kalogeros" (Nose of the Old Monk). From this unparalleled elevation, one can savor the panoramic grandeur of the mountain range cascading towards the sea, making it the only location in the Solia region where such a view can be indulged. This site is sure to entice nature enthusiasts and thrill-seekers, captivated by the majesty of the vistas and elevated terrains. Two new paths of exceptional natural beauty, crafted by the Korakou Community Council, will also traverse the spot. The Ministry of Agriculture has authorized the establishment of facilities on the hill. A large telescope, a gazebo, benches, rubbish bins and auxiliary signs have been placed on the site. This project was entirely financed by the European Union.
